Equity Study draft report

From Tanya Hughes The Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities was charged with producing an equity study of state government programs and actions through Section 81(b) of Public Act No. 21-2. The Commission partnered with Faulkner Consulting Group who have conducted the study. We worked closely with the Department of Administrative Services, Office of Policy Management. Through community engagement and state agency data analysis, the study offers recommendations as to how to make state government programs more equitable. CHRO partnered with the Commission on Racial Equity in Public Health on the release of their respective studies. It was a great day for the state of CT. Thank you to all who made it a resounding success, especially Darcy Strand, Legislative Analyst from CHRO and Muna Abbas, Associate Commission Analyst at CREPH. The day focused on efforts that must be made in a consistent, systematic, fair, just and honest approach to achieving equity in government. We were challenged to do more, walk the walk and to infuse equity considerations throughout every facet of every program and operation. Our participants included: Ned Lamont , Governor of the state of Connecticut, Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz, U S Senator Richard Blumenthal, Director Kiran Ahuja, U S Office of Personnel Management, Pareesa Charmchi Goodwin, Executive Director of the Commission on Racial Equity in Public Health, Attorney Cheryl Sharp, Deputy Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, Attorney General William Tong , Chief Justice Richard Robinson, Connecticut Supreme Court, VANNESSA DORANTES , Commissioner of DCF, Jodi Hill-Lilly, Commissioner of DCF (newly appointed), Commissioner Michelle Gilman , Department of Administrative Services, Douglas Mccrory , Representative Geraldo Reyes Jr, Representative Hilda Santiago and Senator Julie Kushner, just to name a few.
