AI might lead to the destruction of the human species, but nuclear capabilities already have that capacity. What we call science, discovery, invention,innovation and creativity can all be used negatively. Did the compass/navigation/sailing lead to the several hundred year attempt to eliminate the first peoples in North America, lead to the to the international triangular trade of black human cargo, etc...
