9th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

Hey everyone! It's that time of year again! Join us, Artsucation™ Academy Network and the Official Juneteenth Coalition of Greater New Haven for our 9th Annual Juneteenth Celebration! A 4-day event! June 17-20 Friday, June 17th 4pm - 7pm - Meet & Greet at Stetson Library. Come meet our performers, community organizers, artists, and each other! Saturday, June 18th 10am - 10:30am - Official symbolic Juneteenth Flag Raising for the city with a live jazz trumpeter on the New Haven Green across from City Hall Saturday, June 18th 7pm - 8:30pm - Featuring performances by New Haven percussionist Brian Jarawa Gray, New Haven's own Jazz legend Jesse "Cheese" Hameen II, and the popular African dance group the Bambara Drum and Dance Ensemble from the Bronx, NYC! All on the New Haven Green mainstage for the International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Sunday, June 19th 1pm - closing - Juneteenth marketplace featuring vendors selling crafts, clothes, jewelry, food, and career assistance services at the Artsucation™ Academy Network tent! All on the New Haven Green as part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Sunday June 19th 7:30 pm - 8pm - Our traditional Elder Honoring ceremony recognizing unsung heroes of our community and the creator of the Juneteenth flag Elder Ben Haith of CT with a performance by the Keepers of the Culture Performance Arts Company! All on the New Haven Green mainstage for the International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Monday, June 20th 2pm-5pm - Celebration in the Village at Stetson Library! Join us for a fun day of "Africa Is Me!" Juneteenth Edition with dance classes, drumming, history of Juneteenth, flag making, and a mini parade! We look forward to seeing you for our 9th annual Juneteenth celebration weekend!
