DeLauro to Hold Roundtable with Connecticut Families, Child and Hunger Advocates on Infant Formula Crisis

DeLauro Introduced a Supplemental Funding Bill that provides the U.S. Food and Drug Administration with Urgently Needed Resources to Help Address the Infant Formula Shortage

NEW HAVEN, CT — Monday, May 23 at 11:00 AM, House Appropriations Chair Rosa DeLauro will hold a roundtable with Connecticut families and child and hunger advocates to hear how the infant formula crisis has been felt across the state and will highlight efforts to get shelves restocked with safe formula.

DeLauro supported the Access to Baby Formula Act and led the passage of an emergency supplemental appropriation bill that will help restore the domestic supply of safe infant formula, ensure every baby has the nutrition they need to live and thrive, and prevent this crisis from happening in the future. DeLauro has been closely tracking this issue since Abbott Nutrition first announced the formula recall which has driven the nationwide shortage. She examined the recall at a recent hearing and submitted for the record a report acquired from a whistleblower who worked at the Abbott facility, which produces infant formula recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in February. She has also requested investigations into the FDA’s handling of the Abbott powdered formula recall.
