MARS AND VENUS are finally free of the heavy influence of dominating Pluto in Capricorn. Now in airy Aquarius, the two are feeling lighter in step, faces turned toward the light. The god of War and the goddess of Harmony travel side-by-side for a few more weeks, gradually separating as Venus picks up her pace. By the end of March, they will be "out of orb" (out of range) of being conjunct.
Their ingress into progressive Aquarius means that we are ready to start working toward manifesting a new future, propelled in part by the shock of recent events. We see the hand of power-hungry Pluto in those events, and find hope in the fact that Mars and Venus are now in the sign of equality, innovation, social awareness, and humanitarianism.
THE PLANETS are very quiet this week, with very few exact aspects to discuss. This respite gives us the opportunity to come to terms with the many changes that have occurred in the past few days and weeks. It is a time to come to center within ourselves, to call back all the fragmented aspects of self, so that we can move forward with greater coherence in body, mind, and spirit.
What we may notice most over the next seven days, and throughout the month of March, is the building energy of the Jupiter-Neptune alignment. Although the two planets will not be exactly conjunct until April 12, they are already within seven degrees of each other, and getting closer in proximity every day.
JUPITER AND NEPTUNE rendezvous every 13 years or so, but they meet in Pisces only every 166 years. Since the two planets are known as the "co-rulers" of the sign, Piscean themes should be especially noticeable as they come together in 2022.
In the positive, this means great outpourings of compassion, a deeper understanding of the oneness of all life, high idealism and faith, and calls for pacifism and nonviolence. With this conjunction, we will have opportunities for great spiritual and creative expansion, and enhanced visions or paranormal experiences. But the shadow side of the Pisces can also manifest as these two planets align: increased drug use and abuse, apathy and an avoidance of reality, confusion and hallucinations, disillusionment and fraud, and an exaggeration of victim/perpetrator roles,
THE LAST TIME Jupiter and Neptune conjoined in Pisces was in 1856. Relevant events at that time included a major surge in the popularity of spiritualism and séances. This was followed by a religious revival in the United States in 1857-58, which came to be known as the "Fourth Great Awakening."
1856 was also the year that the Church of the Brethren petitioned the government to be excused from bearing arms, due to their pacifist beliefs. The "Know Nothing Party" formed in the U.S. as part of a new political movement. Cocaine was isolated from the coca plant and given its name, and the second Opium War began between England and China over opium trade.
The effects of the 2022 Jupiter-Neptune alignment will be at their greatest strength throughout the month of April. We may feel its influence increase again late in the year, around the time that Jupiter stations direct on November 24.
FOR THIS WEEK, here are the planetary aspects we'll be working with day by day:
Monday
Mercury semisquare Chiron: We generally feel less secure in our abilities to think, reason, and communicate with this aspect. As a result, some may easily become frustrated and defensive.
Tuesday
No major aspects are exact today.
Wednesday
Mercury enters Pisces: Mindful Mercury is moving very quickly right now, and will makes its transit of Pisces in less than three weeks, from March 9 to 27. While the Messenger Planet is in the twelfth sign, the imagination is enhanced, benefitting both spiritual and creative endeavors. It may, however, be harder to focus on mundane or practical matters, since our gaze is often drawn out the window as we daydream.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday
No major aspects are exact on these days.
Sunday
Sun conjunct Neptune: The Sun is activating the energies of the Jupiter-Neptune alignment as it conjoins Neptune. This could be a good day for inspired meditations or for creative journeys that use the imagination and ability to visualize. Dreams may be especially profound. We may also feel quite emotional, as our hearts open in compassion for those in need.
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Your spiritual journey and creative imagination are greatly enhanced this year. But, because you may be even "more Piscean" than usual, it can be hard to focus on practical matters. Relationships may be challenging, as it is hard to have clear boundaries due to a deep desire to be of assist to others. Allow yourself extra time for reflection and recovery, especially after being around others or in stressful situations. Alone time is essential for reconnecting with your Self. (Solar Return Sun semisquare Venus, semisquare Mars, conjunct Jupiter, conjunct Neptune)
