The 2022 Grammy Awards may be postponed due to the COVID-19 Omicron variant or the “Omarion” variant, as many call it, but that isn’t stopping our fun. While the new date has yet to be determined, we’re still reminiscing on some of the award show’s greatest performances to date.
Regardless of the impending new date, it’s no secret that Black musicians have had a larger-than-life impact on the Grammys’ stage. Whether it was Beyonce fabulously sauntering around the stage with Tina Turner on her journey to becoming the most-awarded woman in Grammy history or Rick James’ 1982 performance where he left the stage ablaze in his fabulous sequined jumpsuit, there’s so many to choose from.
While we await details on the new date, check out our list of the greatest performances from Black musicians at the Grammy Awards.
