In 2021, rededicate yourself to service.
Join us and #ServeTheMoment in your community this #MLKDay.
As
we enter a new year in a world increasingly in need of repair, we draw
upon the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to drive us to #ServeTheMoment and address racial injustice amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic, through volunteering and learning
in our communities.
From January 15th to 18th,
Repair the World and the Jewish Service Alliance implore you to ask, as
Dr. King asked us, “What are you doing for others?” Explore ways to
learn, serve, and mobilize others in your community. Volunteer in person
or #VolunteerVirtually. We have plenty of ways you can serve on #MLKDay, including an opportunity to join the Gift of Life registry. Sign up today!
Join the Gift of Life Registry this #MLKDay.
Gift of Life is a national, public, not-for-profit registry that
facilitates lifesaving transplants for patients in the US and abroad
fighting over 100 diseases- most commonly blood cancer. Gift of Life
accepts registrants from all over the United States from various
backgrounds to increase likelihood in finding a viable match.
Compared to 75% of Caucasian patients, Hispanic patients find a
donor about 45% of the time, Asian patients 40% of the time, and
African-American patients only find a donor at a staggeringly low 25%.
Jewish tradition considers Pikuach Nefesh, saving a human life, to be
among the highest ethical obligations. This MLK Day consider joining the
Gift of Life registry. With one quick and easy swab kit, you have the
potential of being matched with an individual in dire need. Make a
difference today. Will you #ServeTheMoment and join us in amplifying this ongoing work?
#VolunteerVirtually this #MLKDay.
