Nonprofit organization supporters and stakeholders, please join us in hearing from
these nine nonprofits about their learning, accomplishments, and plans for growth.
Urban Nonprofit Network was founded in April 2020 by co-chairs
Doreen Abubakar, Doreen Abubakar LLC, and Jeanette Sykes of The Perfect Blend.
Our mission: To strengthen urban nonprofits to be more effective and sustainable.
What we do: The Urban Nonprofit Network helps small, urban nonprofit organizations
become stronger, more effective, and sustainable so that they can have a positive
impact on their underserved communities.
In summer 2020, we hosted our first training, “How to Make New and Emerging Nonprofits
Stronger and Sustainable,” presented by Jackie Downing of the Community Foundation for
Greater New Haven. Staff and board members of nine local nonprofits participated. Each
participating organization also received eight consultant coaching hours.
On January 4, the first cohort will share their progress.

outcomes, and will be self-sufficient.
