Hey once again Tom - Great post! I've subscribed to "Deconstructed" as it seems like a great podcast. If I'm going to be the tone police I do agree Biden's tone is a very harsh and condescending - But I want to make note of Ryan Grim's covering of Shirley Sherrod vs Joe Biden.

It's very interesting to me how the comments made by former Georgia State Director of World Development for the agriculture department, Sherly had a harsh reaction so much that she was fired, and Ryan (the journalist of this piece) took the time to put that soundbite back into context, while Biden's sounds bits continue to leave a bitter aftertaste. It's very ironic. To use the framework mentioned by Shirly it's seems like Ryan may be playing for a specific team - Although I think "Team USA" would help us all get though the next 4 years with our mental health intact.

I think Biden has a particularly tough road ahead and personally I'd appreciate if he keeps being true to himself in every aspect. Yes I agree, he his tone is off-putting but we can't afford performances anymore we need real and respectful with "real" taking priority. As we win together we'll find the right tone to strike. Also, he's got to go into these next 4 years with high self-esteem, which I'm not saying is lacking but if we're going to hammer him - he's going to hammer back, and if we're going to tout his failure he's going to tout his successes. Eye rolls all around but he's in the hot-seat and has to see himself as a vessel for positive change not the scapegoat for all the moral failures of white people Which is the Republican narrative they're hoping with stay uploaded in his mind.

To dive deeper in his comments on working with Hispanics - I agree with the statement, there is a rift within the black and Hispanic community, although I don't think it's his place to talk about. Hand those talking points over to Kamala.

Regarding the ask for a national database on police misconduct, we shoulda been-had that! And his answer, "we can go very far, it matters how we do it". I agree - we all know and see the ways some officers and districts abuse their power and ratcheting up emotion around it now will more likely motivate nefarious strategies for hiding accountability at this point and time. Lets keep the focus on motivating and enabling voter turnout on GA in the immediate.
