RACE EQUITY FUND
We have raised $200,000 from SVP Partners to fund a pilot for participatory grantmaking that will serve as a model of fundamental change in decision-making for the Connecticut philanthropic community.
While funded primarily by SVP Partners, the funding decisions will be made by a grantmaking committee comprised of community leaders and activists who are intimately knowledgeable about the issues and needs of their respective communities. This “democratization of philanthropy” should yield a more informed, efficient allocation of resources. We also plan learn from this in order to incorporate a greater level community input into SVP’s process for selecting and funding our future community partners.
