Bridgeport/Hartford/NewHaven (December 4, 2020)
– FaithActs for Education is set to host a virtual public action on
Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 4:30 PM, to demand equitable school funding
from State leaders. Leaders of the Connecticut Senate and House of
Representatives are commited to attend.
Elected officials currently confirmed to attend include Sen.
Marty Looney, Sen. Bob Duff, Rep. Jason Rojas, Sen. Doug McCrory, and
Sen. Cathy Osten.
The pandemic has shown that inequities in education across the state are
vast and challenges brought on through distance- and hybrid-learning
have only exacerbated the significant educational inequities already
faced by students, parents, and educators throughout Connecticut.
The goal of the action, which will be moderated by FaithActs Founder
Pastor William McCullough, Senior Pastor of Russell Temple CME Church in
Bridgeport, and Chair of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance
of Greater Bridgeport, is to compel elected officials to take action to
remedy the significant inequities in educational funding statewide that
disproportionately impact Black, Latino and low-income students.
