The term Rabbi is rooted in the term master teacher, a doctor of spiritual law, a healer. It is a term of great respect and with great respect comes great responsibility. I am a professor of Literacy who believes our policymakers and legislators have watered down that responsibility and respect by repeatedly reducing teaching preparation to standardized testing. Thank you for sharing this one Tom. Looking forward to this one. We can't heal the nation with test scores, but we can start with Master Teachers who understand the greater responsibility of teaching or children to become just citizens who respect each other and accept the mantle that they are shapers of our democracy.
So much has been promised and not delivered in that Declaration of Independence, our nation's aspirations for life, liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness deserve teachers and students willing to fight for them.
