The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted almost everyone economically. These training and employment opportunities are specifically geared toward:
- Adults out of work or not working enough due to COVID-related closures or lay-offs.
- Young adults 18-24 not connected to school or work
Open to Connecticut residents at least 18 years old who are eligible to work in the United States. Check out your options below, then complete the application to get started.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Technical skills are more valuable than ever. Increased remote work drives demand for skilled IT workers.
Earn recognized credentials in either Cyber Security, Help Desk or Business Analyst through DCI Resources, a top local trainer for Security +, CompTIA or MS Tech Associate certification.
CNA PLUS
Become a Certified Nurse Aide and help full a particular shortage at long-term care facilities and those specializing in geriatric care.
Earn your CT State CNA certification PLUS additional skills in pain management, mental health care, dementia and palliative care through Gateway Community College.
WAREHOUSING / LOGISTICS
Changes in consumer behavior during the Pandemic have highlighted CT’s need to build its logistics workforce. Amazon, FedEx, UPS and other small to medium-sized enterprises offer jobs with advancement opportunities. Earn a Powered Industrial Forklift credential, OSHA 10 and Geographic Information Systems training.
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
Ideal for candidates ready to fill high demand positions but needing new, specific skills through paid on-the-job training.
Includes but not limited to career paths in IT, Advanced Manufacturing, Health Care and Logistics. Minority and women-owned business encouraged to participate.
PAID WORK EXPERIENCE & INTERNSHIPS
Gain skills that make you employable no matter where the economy is going. Earn $15/hour working at non-profits, public agencies, social enterprises and small businesses. Additional opportunities to perform humanitarian or disaster relief work related to COVID-19.
