Please join the elders from Greater New Haven Community as we host a call to action on Tuesday, July 14 from 10-11AM on upper green located at corner of Chapel and College St, New Haven. Asking all to show up in support. We are making our demands public for those in leadership positions to work aggressively during this upcoming special session to address both police accountability/oversight as well as Corrections accountability/oversight. For us it's not a question of "should we?" or "can we?". We absolutely MUST. Our people are dying on the street and behind bars at the hands of government officials. There is no effective means to hold either of them accountable. We have asked, We have held countless zoom meetings. We have appealed to the hearts of those who seem to lack compassion. Time for talking and appealing is passed. We held public protests to shine a light on racial injustice that keeps us from breathing. "It is no longer light that is needed; but fire. No longer the gentle shower but thunder". (Frederick Douglas) We are tired of baby steps to justice. We are tired of holding our breath waiting for our righteous justice. It's our time. Justice or else. Young freedom fighters we need your support.
