SPECIAL WEBINAR: TALKING TO STUDENTS ABOUT RACISM, PROTEST, AND ACTIVISM

Wednesday, June 3: 4:00-5:15
During this special webinar several Connecticut educators will be speaking about their experiences in teaching this topic.  The moderator of the session will be Sally Whipple from the Democracy Center at the Old State House.   The major speak of the session will be Dr. Hasan Jeffries, Associate Professor at Ohio State University, who recently edited Understanding and Teaching the Civil RIghts Movement (University of Wisconsin Press).  Dr. Jeffries is a driving force behind Teaching Tolerance’s “Teaching Hard History” project.  
There will be opportunities throughout the session for audience participation.
The session is co-sponsored by the Democracy Center at the Old State House, the History Department at Central Connecticut State University, the Connecticut Council for the Social Studies, and the Connecticut State Department of Education.
