Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced Friday he'd seek to transfer millions from the Boston Police overtime budget to social services, and declared that racism is a public health crisis in Boston.
He said the health impacts of racism had been clear in coronavirus case numbers and “the impacts go far beyond the current crisis.”
Walsh said he'd seek a transfer of 20 percent of the Boston Police Department's overtime budget to social services.
