March is Women's National History Month!

During the month of March, we give a little extra attention to all of the amazing accomplishments of strong, determined women. Since 1987, the United States has formally recognized March as National Women’s History Month. Every woman has a story to tell and gifts to share with the world. So, get ready, because this month is about honoring magnificent ladies, and we are ready to celebrate it to the fullest.

Anna Foster - Boston MA

Maven's World is an event-focused and consulting business that works with individuals, entrepreneurs and organizations on business strategy, networking and development. She is also the Co-Founder of All Together Now Boston and the women’s Dinner Group.
Ms. Foster is a certified life and business coach, as well as a certified behavioral analysis trainer. She is an avid connector, poised event host, professionally trained speaker, award- winning entrepreneur, and an impactful influencer. Anna’s work has earned her various awards and recognitions. In March 2019, Anna published her first book: “The Entrepreneur’s Guide Workbook: For Mindful, Happy & Intentional Living”.
Anna’s most recent awards include the Visionary Award in Entrepreneurship, the Ignatius Foundation Sapphire Award, three state-level honors: 2016 from the Governor of Massachusetts, and two-consecutive honors in 2016 and 2017 from the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

She presently sits on the Small Business Advisory Board for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the Alumni Board of the College of Arts & Sciences at Suffolk University. Anna is the former Vice Chair of the Network for Women in Business-Massachusetts.
Prior to founding A Maven’s World, Anna owned and operated several businesses in various industries. This experience has fueled Anna with the passion to assist entrepreneurs and professionals to live their best life of abundance and gain success by living authentically.
Several years ago, Anna set out to create a world in which people who are facing obstacles and encountering challenges can feel safe instead of scared, empowered instead of defeated, and be rewarded instead of rejected.
Building on her annual conferences for professional women and entrepreneurs each year in Boston, in 2018, Foster expanded the women's leadership conference nationwide and internationally with conferences in Tampa, Hartford, Washington, DC and London. Since 2012, approximately 3500 women have taken part in the Women’s Conference by A Maven’s World.

Dr. Roberta A. Hoskie - New Haven CT

There are few better examples of success than Roberta Hoskie, who was born and raised in New Haven, CT. She was teenage single parent and managed to raise herself up from poverty to become a successful real estate investor, broker, and serial entrepreneur. Roberta’s rag to riches story went viral across the nation and has been featured on Channel 3 WFSB Eyewitness News; it chronicled her transformation from a teenage, single mother on welfare into a successful Real Estate Mogul, Serial Entrepreneur with Multiple Streams of Income.
The Gateway College 2012 Hall of Fame inductee is also a recipient of numerous awards inclusive of but not limited to the 2014 Minority Business Person of the year, New Haven Register's 2015 Person of the Year, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, 2016 Person of the Year, Elm City Pioneer Award, State of Connecticut's African American Affairs Commission Business and Economic Development Award. In 2004, Ms. Hoskie took a "LEAP of FAITH" and left her "Good" job in the Bronx, New York, where she managed a 56 MILLION Dollar budget to fulfill her D.R.E.A.M. of investing into her own community and started her first Real Estate Business in her basement, along with her sister Tameka Hoskie. Since then, she has created four other companies focused on Real Estate Training, Investing, Business Development and Self & Mindset Development that have helped create streams of income for people all across the country.
On April 15, 2017, Roberta established the Millionaire Mindset Sisterhood, an International Faith based Sisterhood devoted to Breaking the Curse of Poverty over their lives and the lives of their loved ones. JerriAnne Boggis - Milford NH

Jerri Anne is a writer, educator, and community activist who works to correct the historical record on the racial complexity and richness of New Hampshire’s diverse past. Through the development of several community programs that focus on history and race, Boggis has raised the awareness of New Hampshire’s little-known people of color and increased the visibility of Black history in the state. She believes that diversity programming is more than listening to a speaker or lighting a candle. It’s about social change. The programs she creates are powerful, noticed, yet social and engaging.
Born in Jamaica, Ms. Boggis moved to the United States in 1977 and has been a long-term resident of Milford, New Hampshire. She received her B.S. degree in Business Management at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester and her M.A. in Writing and Communications at Rivier College in Nashua. Her publications include Refugee Resettlement in New Hampshire, (Center for the Humanities, UNH); Reflections and Memories; Footsteps (Cobblestone Press, 2005); Harriet Wilson’s New England: Race, Writing and Region (Co-Editor, UPNE, 2007); and a collection of essays, the first devoted entirely to Wilson and her novel.
In 2015, Boggis was named by the New Hampshire Humanities Council as one of the 40 most influential New Hampshirites who have vastly enriched human understanding and whose original works and passion for excellence have put New Hampshire on the cultural map.

Color Magazine's unique conferences address diversity and inclusion (D&I) issues, shares tools for personal and professional enrichment, fosters long-lasting network connections and recognizes the achievements of D&I leaders. In addition to its events, the print and online publication is committed to celebrating corporate America's diverse workforce and working to empower communities.
She is also serving as the New England chapter President for the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC). NAMIC is a non-profit, professional, media trade association with a mission to educate, advocate and empower for diversity and inclusion in areas of communications, media and entertainment. NAMIC offers diverse networking opportunities, mentorship and leadership development programs for its members and partners with other non-profit, academic, community, private and industry organizations in New England to promote its diversity and inclusion goals.
Kamilah has over 9 years’ experience in broadcast television, previously working for LIN Media and Media General, Inc. where she negotiated contracts with cable companies for carriage of network television programming and managed the company’s 71 US broadcast television stations. She also serves as Adjunct Faculty at Bay Path University, a member of the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists (SNEABJ), a Community Advisory Board Member for “Reflection in Action” program at Harvard Medical School Office of Diversity Inclusion & Community Partnership and a Board Member of the Children’s Friend.
There are literally thousands of inspiring, African American Women in New England, but because of space we could only highlight a few and it is our hope that you are even more inspired, motivated and educated about their accomplishments.
March is Women’s National History Month, be sure to take a moment and say Thank You to those who have and continue to pave the way for Women, if it’s your Grandmother, Mom, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Mentor let them know you care and appreciate all they’ve done to enhance your quality of life!
