Description

Traditionally, the Critical Race Theory Conference has been primarily academic, bringing together scholars across disciplines to discuss new scholarship in Critical Race Theory (CRT). However, the 2020 conference will be an opportunity to merge scholarship and practice, examining the ways in which CRT scholarship has shaped policy and action by presenting a mix of scholars and practitioners. In this current political moment, marked by the ascendancy of (essentially outspoken) white nationalists into seats of governmental power, it is important to engage with the intersections between CRT and practice. The 2020 CRT Conference will be unique by presenting YLS with the opportunity to create spaces attentive to the dynamic interactions between race, gender, sexuality, ability, and power - fostering discussions that grapple honestly with how they shape our society. Conference attendees will be left with an understanding of how CRT provides an essential lens through which reality can be understood and deconstructed, as well as a skillset for imagining and advocating for a more just world.
