Black cannabis entrepreneurs launch coalition to fight for equity in pot industry

Black cannabis entrepreneurs launch coalition to fight for equity in pot industry (The Boston Globe): A new coalition of black entrepreneurs and allies will fight for equal opportunities and diversity in the cannabis industry. The group, called Real Action for Cannabis Equity, or R.A.C.E., held a press conference today to announce its creation and will take its first action tomorrow with a silent demonstration at Cambridge City Hall. In Cambridge, where the group's cofounders Richard Harding and Taba Moses want to open a pot shop, city councilors are considering a variety of marijuana regulations, one of which would prevent medical dispensaries from opening for recreational sales for the first two years. Advocates like Harding said that amendment would give applicants in the state's economic empowerment program a real chance to succeed in the city. "We want to be a model that shows the rest of the state and the rest of the country how true partnerships and good sound policy can ensure equity and diversity in the cannabis business," Harding told me in an interview today.
