New Haven – Mayor Toni N. Harp and Interim Chief of Police Otoniel Reyes will be joined by members of the board of police commissioners and members of the New Haven Police Department at a 4:00 p.m. press conference today.
Additional details of the shooting that took place shortly after 9:00 p.m. yesterday, near the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Henry Street, will be provided at that time.
NHPD Captain Anthony Duff was shot and wounded during last night’s incident. He remains hospitalized after surgery last night.
Another man, who had been engaged in the shooting Captain Duff was investigating, was killed. A suspect in the shootings remains at large; an investigation into the shooting, including a neighborhood canvass, is ongoing.
This afternoon’s press conference is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. near the crime scene – at the corner of Dixwell Avenue and Henry Street. Members of the press are encouraged to cover this important update.
