THE global maritime commons have remained a veritable medium for driving growth, development and prosperity amongst both littoral and land-linked nations in the 21st Century. African seaborne trade has equally benefited from this growth, albeit with attendant maritime security challenges, particularly within the Gulf of Guinea, GoG. This is the case for Nigeria with a coastline of about 420 nautical miles.

THE Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside, has pointed at the diverse opportunities that are open in Nigeria for economic transformation and development through effective and adequate exploitation of the marine economy.
Peterside who was speaking at the African Day of Oceans and Seas, weekend, in Lagos, also pointed that countries, such as China and U.S.A., have effectively exploited their ocean economy and were currently reaping the dividends.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant Mr Atiku Abubakar has commended and congratulated Boris Johnson, Britain’s Prime Minister and Mrs Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch a UK-born Nigerian who was recently appointed as Children and Families Minister.
Atiku said said: ‘I commend and celebrate British Prime Minister, Mr. Boris Johnson, for appointing a British citizen of Nigerian heritage as a minister in his government’
Mrs Badenoch is a British Conservative politician and Member of Parliament, MP, for Saffron Walden.
