On June 12th, please join our Data Walk & Town Hall! The event seeks to foster interaction among stakeholders from different sectors to explore and determine actionable steps toward moving the needle on achieving health equity among #BMOC. You will have a chance to review and react to the health equity indicators in the #CTBMOCReportCard, BMOC have considerable untapped potential for contributing to economic growth, vitality, competitiveness, and social innovations in Connecticut and throughout our nation. Advancing health equity among BMOC first requires documenting the most disparate health outcomes and the broader social conditions driving them.
Through an interactive and engaging program, participants will be able to:
- Recognize male-role specific barriers and fortify collective action unique to males from underserved populations groups; and
- Leverage statewide and local strategic planning initiatives aimed at reducing health disparities, improving healthcare quality, and transforming service delivery models for the health and well-being of boys and men, based on the statewide publicly available data from HDI’s CT Report Card on Health Equity among Boys and Men of Color.pdf

Dr. Wizdom Powell and the UConn Health Disparities Institute invite you to join us for our 2nd Annual Visualizing Health Equity Gallery and Artist Talk with Frederick Douglass Knowles (author, artist, activist) and Valerie Ingram (Artistic Director and Founder of Ruby’s Realm Productions).
The theme for our #VisualizeHealthEquity event is “Our Language, Our Story, Our Vision”. Here, we will explore the ways that oral and written artists reclaim words/language as a source of power, healing and activism for health equity and social justice! They create worlds with words – thus casting a vision of possible futures for our community.
