My Reflection Matters-Self Directed Co-op

MRM Self-Directed Co-op

This January, My Reflection Matters in CT Home Education become more than just a Facebook group for families of color supporting each other's choice to un/homeschool. A few weeks ago, we officially launched Connecticut's first self-directed learning co-op for families homeschooling Black and Brown children! Check out some of the photos of our families:
  • reading about revolutionary Black & Brown heroes;
  • participating in community art lead by a different Black or Brown local artist each week;
  • getting their financial literacy on;
  • working collaboratively to create Lego master pieces;
  • developing their literacy, mathematical, analytical, and social skills through game  boarding;
  • and building lasting relationships with each other!
Events for Un/Homeschoolers

January 28: Pounding Class with Fitness Fury Xperience

Each month, MRM in CT Home Education hosts social meet ups or free or low cost events for members to connect and build community.  In January, our kids met at the
Fitness Fury Xperience gym to get their fitness on by joining in the new Pound Class craze. See below to learn more about our upcoming February event.

February 5: Prudence Crandall Museum Visit

The Prudence House was once known as The Prudence Crandall School for Negro Girls and was the first higher education academy and boarding school for African Americans. On a guided tour we will learn about the courageous, determined young ladies who attended the school; what were their lives like then and what were they like after attending?

Program begins at 2pm and the fee is $2 per person (not including toddlers/babies, of course). Depending on the ages and group size, we may split into 2 groups so that the tour experience is better catered to the students.
