Lt. Governor Wyman. The general reception begins at 6:15 p.m. and features heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages. The main program begins at 7 p.m. and will include a special presentation made to Wyman in recognition of her decades of leadership as a champion for reproductive health and rights in Connecticut.

Dahlia Lithwick writes the “Supreme Court Dispatches” and “Jurisprudence” columns for SlateHer work has appeared in The New York Times, Harper’s, The New Yorker, The Washington Post and Commentary, among other media. Lithwick won a 2013 National Magazine Award for her columns on the Affordable Care Act and has testified before Congress about access to justice in the era of the Roberts Court. She has appeared on CNN, ABC, the Daily Show and is a frequent guest on The Rachel Maddow Show.

Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman is currently serving her second term as Connecticut’s 108th Lieutenant Governor. She began a career in public service more than 30 years ago when she successfully sought a seat on the Tolland Board of Education. Lt. Gov. Wyman visited, the Planned Parenthood offices in 2017 to meet the Southern New England affiliate staff members and pledged her continued support to the women’s reproductive health care provider. Her visit came amidst a backdrop of extreme politicians in Washington, D.C. attempting to pass legislation that would slash Medicaid, gut essential health benefits like maternity care, increase premiums and deductibles, and “defund” Planned Parenthood, which would block millions of people from receiving essential preventive health care services.

“We are so fortunate to have champions like Lt. Gov. Wyman here in Connecticut. We are thankful for her steadfast support,” said Amanda Skinner, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut. “Our fight for women and women’s health is far from over. We are grateful for champions, like Lt. Gov. Wyman, who stand proudly with Planned Parenthood and the women and communities we serve. We are thrilled to honor her for her hard work. We hope our friends and supporters will join us for what is sure to be an enlightening evening.”

All proceeds from Sex, Politics and Cocktails will benefit Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut which works to advance access to sexual health care and defend reproductive rights. PPV!CT organizes volunteers to educate voters through door knocking, phone calls and online to ensure they know what is at stake for women’s health ahead and the November 6 general election. Election Day is Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
