Keynote speaker: Connecticut Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson

Justice Robinson is Chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Cultural Competency, Chair of the Rules Committee, recipient of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Diversity Award and Connecticut Bar Association's Henry J. Naruk Judiciary Award for Integrity; named to NAACP 100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut; and is a Connecticut Bar Foundation James W. Cooper Fellows, Life Fellow.
1:15 p.m. Implicit Bias Breakout Workshops

The workshops include certified instructor-led interactive learning and processing exercises for participants through scenarios, videos and testimonies that can be used to better understand implicit bias and its impacts. These activities are geared to aiding participants in developing and implementing practices that will help reduce subjective decision-making as a result of implicit bias.

These workshops will:
Raise your awareness of biases – both implicit and explicit
Enhance your understanding of the difference between implicit and explicit biases
Acknowledge that all groups experience and have prejudices and biases
Recognize that our biases can lead to misjudgments
Raise awareness of how biases impact communities, relationships and public policies
Lead you to understand how biases can be ‘undone’ through debiasing techniques
Guide you in having honest dialogues about bias.
