Dear Friend,
Earlier this summer, the DNC launched the Seat At The Table tour—-a tour focused on engaging and organizing with Black women across the country. From Alabama to Ohio and beyond, this tour is working to rebuild relationships, restore trust and strengthen infrastructure within communities to champion Democratic issues and values that build towards electoral victories in 2018 and beyond. And we’re just getting started!
Our efforts aren’t just about the voting power of Black women -- we want to also address the electoral, economic and social injustices in our communities. And one of the things black women face every day is the pay gap between men, and also between different types of women. Tuesday, August 7th is Black Women’s Equal Pay Day - the day that the average black woman must work into the next year to earn what the average white man earned the previous year. That’s right - our equal pay day is in *August.* And as a part of the Seat at the Table tour, the DNC is hosting a nationwide Day of Action. Currently, we are looking for women like you to serve as national Seat At The Table ambassadors and volunteer to host house parties and watch our LIVE Seat At The Table Day of Action YOUTUBE broadcast, August 7, 2018, at 7:00 p.m EST. As an ambassador, we ask that you:
- Join us for Days of Action on Black Women's Equal Pay Day (August 7th) and National Voter Registration Day (September 25th) by hosting an event (house party!) with 10-20 of your closest family and friends
- Reach out to voters in your community -- a minimum of 100 before November -- and ask them to register to vote, commit to vote, and turnout on Election Day-- They can check all their information at IWillVote.com!
- Volunteer -- a minimum of 10 hours -- with Democratic campaigns in your neighborhood. Don't worry, we can make all of the connections for you!
- Finally, follow #SeatAtTheTable online and help us spread the word and lift up the voices of Black women!
