Masterful, insightful, astute - award-winning Haitian filmmaker and political activist Raoul Peck tells stories that matter. Echoing Peck’s rare personal background – born in Haiti, raised and educated in the Congo, France, the USA and Germany – NHFPL is screening three of his films that reflect Peck’s international outlook: Oscar nominated I Am Not Your Negro, Lumumba: Death Of A Prophet, and The Young Karl Marx.

August 1, 2018   @6:00 PM
I Am Not Your Negro (2016)
“A snapshot of author and activist James Baldwin's crucial observations on American race relations and a sobering reminder of how far we've yet to go.”

August, 8, 2018   @6:00 PM
Lumumba Death of a Prophet (1990)
“This documentary offers a unique opportunity to reconsider the life and legacy of one of the legendary figures of modern African history.”

August 15, 2018   @6:00 PM
 The Young Karl Marx (2017)

“An exploration of the unexpected early days of a revolutionary historical figure. Peck captures Marx as a whip-smart firebrand whose passion and energy are palpable.”

Invigorating discussion to follow each film screening
