Our Revolution

Tom,
I'm in Detroit this weekend after a few days out west. What a trip it has been! I met with local Our Revolution groups in the East Bay, San Francisco, and Nevada's 4th Congressional District in Las Vegas.
I am amazed by what you are accomplishing. I heard from local activists at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Berkeley who refuse to stop pushing to make your state one where all people can get access to health care. Now you and thousands of others are tirelessly campaigning to expand Medicare for All through the Healthy California Act while fighting to protect the environment, improve housing and public schools, and elect progressive leaders who represent all of us.

Jane Kim is one of those leaders. She's running for mayor of San Francisco to expand access to affordable housing, protect renters, close the income gap, and improve the city's public schools. As you probably know, San Francisco's wealth and income inequality are some of the most pronounced in our country. It's become a city of the haves and have-nots, and I was proud to see all of you who are turning out to support Jane and many other progressives who want to make a difference.

I started my journey in Las Vegas in the heart of Nevada's 4th Congressional District with Amy Vilela. She is running a deeply personal campaign “For the People” to win Medicare for All while protecting Medicaid, Social Security, WIC, and other vital programs that are more than a safety net—they're the foundation working people need to survive and build successful careers.

Our Revolution Nevada is fighting right alongside her to change it. I met high school students who are engaged in activism because they understand that every policy that is implemented today will have an impact on their futures. There were college students present who are already thousands of dollars in debt and retirees whose pensions and Social Security are at risk all united for the purpose of pushing collectively to make not only their circumstances better but to lift the future.
I heard over and over again that together, this local group and candidates like Amy have the power to be the change and elect committed public servants who will put the needs of the people first.
I am going to a rally later today to join Our Revolution local groups to announce our support for Abdul El-Sayed for Governor of Michigan. As always, I remain inspired and optimistic thanks to the contagious energy I've felt from all of you rallying for justice, equality, and our progressive values this past week. These local groups are the guiding light of Our Revolution.
I'll be checking in again soon to share stories of the positive impact the people's revolution is having on this nation. All of the work we are doing, all that we are able to accomplish from progressive candidates to amplifying progressive voices is thanks to you! We will continue forging forward for justice, dreaming big and changing the world. This is our mission. This is our revolution!
Peace and progress,
Nina Turner
