GARE Awards Funding to Three Core Members for Innovative Projects!


The Government Alliance on Race and Equity is pleased to announce the first three recipients of the new Innovation and Implementation Fund. This Fund provides a flexible resource for local governments who are GARE Core Members to seed projects that are focused on eliminating structural racism. Funded projects work across institutions and further partnerships with communities. The Fund rewards the taking of risks and experimentation to try things that have the potential to influence systems. GARE appreciates the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, The California Endowment, and The San Francisco Foundation for their investments in the fund. The following 3 cities have been awarded our Innovation and Implementation Fund in this current round:

GARE members might be interested in submitting a Breakout Session proposal under the Inclusive Democracy Track which will feature sessions that talk about equitable institutional policies and practices, inside/outside strategies, and governing for racial equity.

In the News

While CDCR requires annual Diversity in the Workplace training, the department is delving even deeper into creating a positive, accepting, diverse workforce through an innovative pilot program.

The Capitol Cohort Pilot for Government Alliance on Race & Equity (GARE) has selected key individuals in the department to gather information and craft ways to diversify the workforce.
The first session was held Jan. 24 and GARE is slated to run through Nov. 9.
