Dear Tom,
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a prophet to our nation and the world. He lived and died championing the cause of justice for all and striving to bring good news of a brighter day for the poor and vulnerable people of the world.
Today, we’re holding a commemorative interfaith service event honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King with a call for the nation to enlist in the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call For Moral Revival. Following the service, Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, Jr. and I will lead the congregation in a march to Trump Tower, where we will deliver a prayerful call for repentance for Trump and extremists members of the administration and Congress. We call on moral agents across this nation to stand up and take prayerful #MoralAction.
The revival of the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is urgently and morally mandated during this time of unprecedented inequities and economic repression. We call on all people of moral conscience to join us in 40 days of direct action in over half the states to challenge extremism in state and national politics.
We hope to see you today, online or in-person.
Forward together!
Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II President and Sr. Lecturer, Repairers of the Breach
