Free Registration: The Public is Invited http://alumni.quinnipiac.edu/s/1656/gid2/index.aspx… Friday, November 17, 2017
Quinnipiac Law will mark the 50th anniversary of Justice Marshall’s swearing in as a Supreme Court Justice and also celebrate the October 2017 release of “Marshall,” a feature length film about him.
The symposium will examine Marshall’s early career as a civil rights lawyer, his path breaking work at the NAACP, and his decisions on the US Supreme Court. We will also give some attention to “Marshall the Man” and weave his personal/interior life into the analysis. David Wilkins will begin the symposium with an overview of the role African-American lawyers played in the early days of the civil rights movement. Michael Koskoff, a prominent Connecticut lawyer who is also one of the screen writers of the new film, will be with us for the entire day. We will gather historians, civil rights activists, former law clerks, and friends to recall, analyze, and honor the work of Thurgood Marshall.
