City job! Help increase the number of minorities and women working on City construction projects! Make sure they're paid fair wages!

***Please distribute this to anyone you think could be interested in this job opportunity.***

Apply NOW through Friday, May 12! But May 12th is the absolute last day!!

You would help enforce the City of New Haven’s laws (and related federal and state laws) regarding (1) equal employment opportunity; (2) hiring, recruitment, and training goals regarding affirmative action; and (3) prevailing wages.

You would do this in part by: (1) explaining to contractors what they must do to comply, (2) conducting surprise inspections at their construction sites, (3) investigating potential violations, and (4) recommending remedial action or penalties as appropriate.

You would also compile workforce participation records, and you would report on the progress, trends, and results of a single project or of all projects under your charge, among other things.

You would be expected to organize issues, facts, statistics and evidence and present them clearly and logically, orally and in writing. You must know how to use computer and standard business software/programs to complete your work tasks.

You would maintain effective working relationships with contractors, public officials, labor unions, and the general public. New Haven-specific knowledge would be a plus.

Please check out the attached posting for more details. The salary is $44,623.

To get the full job description and application, go to the City of New Haven’s Department of Human Resources at 200 Orange St, 1st floor. They are open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

Again, the deadline is Friday, May 12! You must turn in your resume or application to Human Resources by 5 pm that day!

This is a tested position. That means calling me does no good. Questions should go to Human Resources. They prefer to communicate by email. Pick up the application as soon as you can, but in the meantime you can find out more by checking out this web page:
