WALK, Activity Day, and Spoken Word Competition at Community Action Agency
Community Action Agency of New Haven (CAANH) announces their 3rd Annual Passport to Prosperity Walk & Activity Day Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 8:30am to 4pm. The FREE family event kicks off at 9:30am with a 3 mile walk from 419 Whalley Avenue, and continues with activities for the entire family until 4pm, including a presentation from the DMTS Dance Team. There’s costume characters, moon bounce, live DJ, dancing, food vendors, face painting, basketball, games for children and teens, WYBC appearance and community partners attending with information about their services.
The Spoken Word Contest (Talk – Sing – Rap) for students 14 – 18 begins at 2pm, and earns the winner $100. Participation is free and all participating students earn two hours of community service.
$5 food vouchers will be awarded to the first 300 people registering, starting at 8:30am. Walkers donating $30 receive a free Walk & Activity Day T-shirt. All proceeds go towards CAANH’s programs and services for youth, single mothers, mature adults and more.
