Uniting Our Community Through Activism and Social Justice- Request from Wanda Faison

This year’s 21st Annual African American Women’s Summit  theme is “Uniting Our Community Through Activism and Social Justice”. We are in search of poet activist for our poetry slam to engage, encourage, inspire and showcase creativity in activism.....
The 21st Annual African American Women’s Summit will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Beecher School located on 100 Jewell Street in New Haven, Connecticut beginning at 8:30 AM (the youth segment will begin at noon) and is free to all participants. The AAWS will recognize Women’s History Month by hosting free events in March 2017 that will benefit all genders and generations.

Over twenty years ago the African American Women’s Summit (AAWS) formally organized under the umbrella of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. Greater New Haven Section brought together African American Women’s Organizations in the New Haven area. This sister collaborative has focused on the issues and concerns that affect the lives of African American women, families and our communities.
