Immigrant Youth and Allies To Gather in Danbury On National Day of Action To Prevent Deportations & Protect Immigrants and Refugees
Raise Voice in Support of Sanctuary Spaces and Preservation of DACA; Declare They Are Here To Stay
Danbury, CT. - On Sunday, January 15th, immigrant youth, together with community members and leaders, will gather at the Ecuadorian Civic Center on a national day of action to "Protect Immigrants & Refugees”. The goal of the day of action is to prevent deportations by educating and empowering the undocumented community.
In nearly 50 cities across the country, immigrants and people of conscience of all backgrounds will raise their voice to declare that they will stand in the way of deportations, racial profiling, criminalization and hatred. We are #HereToStay and will not be moved.
At the Ecuadorian Civic Center, immigrant youth will conduct a Know Your Rights training and share anticipated legal and survival needs - aimed at empowering and educating our community on their rights - no matter who is president. The event will provide a healing space for the community to discuss how they can take action towards creating a welcoming city and defending immigrants and refugees from deportation. Community members will mount support in favor making Danbury a welcoming city that outlines protections for the immigrant community ahead of a Trump administration.
