BRINGING THE CONNECTICUT FREEDOM TRAIL TO LIFE THROUGH THE ARTS!

BRINGING THE CONNECTICUT FREEDOM TRAIL TO LIFE THROUGH THE ARTS!

Recently, 40 educators from across the state took part in "Bringing the Connecticut Freedom Trail to Life through the Arts!" a professional development opportunity hosted by The Amistad Center for Art and Culture and featuring the Connecticut State Historic Preservation Office and the Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA).

The program is a dynamic arts-integrated resource for Connecticut public school teachers interested in bringing professional artists into the classroom to work with students.  Using COA's Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Schools approach to teaching artist residency and unit design, teacher and teaching artist teams create curriculum units that animate the many Connecticut Freedom Trail sites and its relevance to present day issues.
