UPCOMING KWANZAA EVENTS IN HARLEM!
Peace, blessings, and Black power! As you know, we are approaching the Kwanzaa holiday season! This important Black holiday allows us the opportunity to acknowledge and practice important principles that lead to Black empowerment.
The village of Harlem recognizes the importance of this holiday wirh an assortment of events. We are highlighting two, but we encourage you to look up others.
1. Saturday December 17, 2016: A call for Black people in Harlem and Brooklyn to open accounts at Carver Bank. In the spirt of the fourth principle of Kwanzaa -Ujamaa or cooperative economics - the XyayX Movement calls on brothers and sisters to open accounts in a Black bank, specifically at Carver Bank! 2. Wednesday December 28, 2016: The Circle of Brothers 6th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration. For the sixth straight year, Harlem's Circle of Brothers organization holds its much-anticipated annual Kwanzaa celebration, centered around the third Kwanzaa principle of Ujima, or collective work and responsibility.
This event will feature African drummers, poetry performances, martial arts demonstrations, and the opportunity to purchase items from various community vendors. Food will be available. The keynote speaker for the event will be Harlem educator, author, and activist Agyei Tyehimba.
