David Brooks, Brady-Johnson Distinguished Practitioner in Grand Strategy and a senior fellow at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale University, co-teaches the year-long “Studies in Grand Strategy” seminar and courses on moral thought and international affairs. A columnist for The New York Times, a political and cultural commentator and a bestselling author, he has been a senior editor at The Weekly Standard, a contributing editor at Newsweek and the Atlantic Monthly, and is a weekly commentator on “The Newshour with Jim Lehrer.” He is also a frequent analyst on NPR’s “All Things Considered. ” His articles have appeared in the The New Yorker, Forbes, the Washington Postand many other publications. Brooks is the best-selling author of Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There, and The Social Animal: The Hidden Sources of Love, Character, and Achievement. His most recent book is The Road to Character. The event, Yale@Gateway with Paul Solman will discuss “Gateway to What?” This event is free and open to the public.
