New Yale Faculty Startup Is Harnessing the Immune System to Fight Disease
Dr. David Spiegel, Professor of Chemistry and Pharmacology at Yale, is launching a new startup, Kleo Pharmaceuticals, that will harness the body’s own defenses to fight a number of diseases. Kleo relies on Spiegel’s patented immunotherapies—small molecules that can either recruit antibodies to a disease site or mimic the function of antibodies.Read more at OCR.
Dwight Hall to Launch Social Innovation Lab
Dwight Hall is launching the Dwight Hall Social Innovation Laboratory this fall to provide support for individuals or groups of students looking to develop projects that address a social need. Dwight Hall will also be working with Yale College Council to host a New Haven Fair to introduce students to local organizations where they may volunteer. Read more at Yale Daily News.
Hugo & Hoby Unveils New Haven Collection
Yale startup Hugo & Hoby has been making small-batch, hand-crafted and affordable furniture that is sourced locally and uses sustainable materials since participating in a YEI Fellowship last year. Their latest collection of bed frames, standing desks, side tables and more were all inspired by, sourced from or made in the city of New Haven. Check out the collection.
