2016 Business Opportunity Conference and Expo

Good Morning,

I hope you had a restful holiday weekend because it is time to get to work!

The 2016 edition of our Business Opportunity Conference and Expo starts on Wednesday and continues on Thursday. The theme for the Expo this year is "Corporations and MBEs Connecting for Growth: A Win-Win". Given our theme, our mutual goal for the Expo should be for our certified MBEs to make connections with our corporate members and with other MBEs that lead to contracts and increased revenue. The workshops should provide our MBEs and corporate members with the intellectual capital to make these connections fruitful. Our matchmaking sessions and the Expo itself should provide meaningful opportunities to learn what our MBEs are selling and what our corporate members and MBEs are buying. Our Shining Star reception will allow us to celebrate an MBE and a corporate member who have successfully navigated this terrain. And, our keynote speakers-Jabes Rojas and Bill Jennings-are leaders who are influencing transformative change in Massachusetts and Connecticut, respectively. The opportunity to make connections that lead to revenue growth will continue on Friday with our Golf outing. A large number of golfers have signed up for this event. We hope you find numerous opportunities to connect with other, and trust that you will be able to master the beautiful and challenging golf course at the Mohegan Golf Club.

I look forward to seeing you this week. Our MBEs (and the communities they operate in) need more business, and the wealth, jobs and tax revenue that will be created by that additional business. So, let's get to work!!!

Best,

Peter F. Hurst, Jr.
