“Renowned Women’s Advocacy Organization Expands Reach Into the New Haven Metropolitan Area”
New Haven, CT July 15, 2016 A diverse group of 35 socially conscious and activist women will be inducted in the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., New Haven Metropolitan Chapter.
The chartering ceremony, to be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the New Haven Lawn Club, will mark the local chapter’s emergence among the city’s advocacy thought leaders.
According to Valencia Goodridge, Chartering President, “The chartering of the New Haven Metropolitan Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. provides an even greater vehicle for women of the community to fortify their combined resources and efforts to promote and strengthen the empowerment and economic sustainability of Black women and girls.”
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., is a national organization founded October 1981 in New York City. Its stated mission is “to advocate on behalf of Black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.” NCBW has chartered over 75 chapters with a cumulative membership of more than 7,500 women, representing 28 states and the District of Columbia. The Coalition’s membership includes a diverse group of women in a variety of professions such as physicians, attorneys, educators, corporate executives, private entrepreneurs, university administrators, and elected officials just to name a few. This crosssection of dynamic, progressive women is reflective of the membership in each chapter of the Coalition.
The keynote speaker will be Michelle McNeillEmery, N CBW National President. (See bio attached)
