New Haven protest planned following police shootings across the - WFSB 3 Connecticut: "NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - A protest is planned in New Haven Friday night in the wake of two controversial police shootings that happened across the country. The protest is being organized by the Black Lives Matter movement. It said it will stage a demonstration on the city's green. It's in response to the killings of two black men by officers earlier this week. The first happened Tuesday when a man named Alton Sterling was shot outside of a convenience store in Baton Rouge, LA following a struggle with police. Eyewitnesses reported that Sterling was pinned to the ground by officers when he was shot and killed. The scene was captured on video and shared on social media. Wednesday, a black Minnesota couple pulled over for a broken taillight, which ended with an officer shooting and killing Philando Castile, according to Castile's girlfriend. Castile's girlfriend broadcast the scene on Facebook Live. The incidents fueled a social media uproar and sparked protests in Connecticut as well as throughout the nation. The protests are set to continue Friday night. The one in New Haven is set for 7:30 p.m. on the New Haven Green. "
