New Haven, Thursday, July 21, 2016: A panel of local leaders including the New Haven Police Chief, NAACP, State Legislators, Community Healing Network, Board of Education and City of New Haven representatives and community advocates will come together for a thoughtful, emotion-filled, community conversation.
Has safety in communities of color been compromised? Are people afraid for themselves and their children? Are you vacillating between anger, grief, despair, and hopelessness. Do you feel paranoid, skeptical, and are consistently waiting to see what will happen next.
While we as a community want to mobilize and do something to stop the increase of violence in our communities we must pause and recognize that we need guidance and healing in order to move in the right direction.
Let's take on the responsibility to create a new "normal". Let's create a healthy, balanced environment amidst all the chaos.
It is possible, but it will take time, work and an unwavering dedication. The call is out, who is willing to step-up and become the change agent we so desperately need?
This event is sponsored by: New Haven Clergy and Integrated Wellness Group. Panel will be facilitated by Dr. Maysa Akbar.
