Members of the Connecticut Legislative Black and Puerto Rican Caucus Endorse Hillary Clinton

Endorsers Highlight Clinton's Commitment to Tackle Gun Violence, Comprehensive Immigration Reform and Criminal Justice Reform

Hartford, CT – Today, ahead of Tuesday’s Democratic primary, members of the Connecticut Legislative Black and Puerto Rican Caucus endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, praising Clinton’s plans to tackle gun violence, bring balance and fairness to our criminal justice system, pass comprehensive immigration reform, and break down racial, social and economic barriers holding Connecticut families back.

“Hillary is the most qualified and experienced candidate to become the next President of the United States,” said State Representative Bruce Morris, Chair of the Connecticut Legislative Black and Puerto Rican Caucus. “We need someone who has her diplomatic acumen. As the Chair of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus, Hillary has proven to be our ally and I give her my foremost endorsement.”

"Throughout her career, Hillary Clinton has been a bold, courageous and consistent leader for Democratic values,” said State Representative Hilda Santiago, Vice Chair of the Caucus. "I am endorsing Hillary because America needs a president to build on the progress of President Obama with ideas and a vision that moves us forward. Simply put, Hillary can deliver on that vision."

"Secretary Clinton has a proven track record delivering results," said State Representative Chris Rosario. "It is critical we keep military-style weapons off our streets and out of our cities. Hillary's leadership on gun violence prevention will absolutely make a difference in the lives of Bridgeport citizens."

"Supporting the middle class and creating good-paying jobs is what moves our economy forward," said State Representative Juan Candelaria. "Hillary Clinton is the champion Connecticut workers need to get incomes rising. On top of that, Clinton's plan for comprehensive immigration reform - with a pathway to citizenship that keeps families together - is exactly what immigrant families deserve. I am proud to endorse her for the April 26th primary."

“Hillary understands reform, change and government - which is one of the hardest industries to work in,” said State Representative Toni Walker. “To me, Hillary has done that her entire life. She’s the best candidate to lead the United States into a new direction and make our Connecticut communities and families more solid.”

Clinton believes we must break down the barriers holding Americans back and build ladders of opportunity — and she has laid out a detailed agenda to get this done.
