ConnCAN to participate in education panel discussion, part of CT State Missionary Baptist Convention events

Panelists to address question: Are we preparing our kids for success?

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Alexander will join clergy leaders from throughout the state for a panel discussion on the future of education during the 112th Annual Meeting of the CT State Missionary Baptist Convention (CSMBC) at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The Rev. Dr. Lindsay E. Curtis, president of the CSMBC and pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Norwalk, said the discussion will present an opportunity for members of the faith community to become more informed about the issues affecting the state’s education system and to become empowered to make their voices heard.

“We must equip our children with the skills they will need to succeed in the 21st century, and the church can play a powerful role in ensuring that success,” Curtis said.

Alexander said she is pleased that CSMBC is leading on the issue of empowering its members to get involved. “ConnCAN is honored to play a small role in this year’s convention, and we believe this is a great forum to really talk about what the future of education looks like and how we as a state are going to respond to the challenges of the next generation.”
