KAPAUKU 1954/55 - 1959 — Treasures from the Yale Film Archive


Join us for the premiere of the newly-preserved ethnographic film KAPAUKU 1954/55 - 1959. in 1954, Yale anthropologist Leopold Pospisil behan the first long-term study of the Kapauku Papuan people of Western New Guinea. He returned again in 1955 and 1959, and made this film. Professor Emeritus Pospisil will narrate the film and participate in a post-screening discussion. 16mm print preserved by the Yale Film Study Center with the support of the National Film Preservation Foundation.
