Black History Month symposium Feb. 3-4 Delaware State University will have a two-day symposium, “Black Lives Matter: 50 Years of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.”








A free two-day symposium will be held in honor of the beginning of Black History Month, entitled “Black Lives Matter: 50 Years of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense,” at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 and 11 a.m. Feb. 4 at Delaware State University, 1200 N. Dupont Highway.
The documentary “Black Panthers: The Vanguard of the Revolution” will be screened at 6 p.m. Feb. 3. A guest lecture by Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 4. Two panel discussions will be held at 1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 4.
Panel members: Charles Jones, director and professor of Africana studies, University of Cincinnati; Yohuru Williams, associate vice president of Academic Affairs and professor of history, Fairfield University; Alondra Nelson, dean of social sciences and professor of sociology and gender studies, Columbia University; Lynn French, executive director of Hope and a Home, and adjunct professor of history, University of Virginia; Paul Coates, founder and publisher of Black Classic Press; and Seale, director of the Bobby Seale Reach Foundation.
