100 Black Men of Stamford, Inc., presents a STEP SHOW at The Palace Theater’s
Black Cultural FEST, Honoring Black History Month 2016

The Palace, 61 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT 06901

BACKGROUND:
In celebration of Black History Month 2016, on February 20th at 7:30 pm the 100 Black Men of Stamford, Inc. will host a STEP SHOW as part of The Palace Theater’s Black Cultural FEST.

There is a long rich tradition of predominantly African American fraternities and sororities on American college campuses dating from the 1900s.  These fraternities and sororities are distinguished by their lifetime commitment to community service that extends beyond graduation to active Alumnae organizations around the country, including Fairfield County.
Part of the heritage of these organizations is stepping.  STEP SHOWS are creatively choreographed and promote the principles of teamwork, discipline and enhance college life as well as academic achievement.  The event at the Palace will feature teams from Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Sigma Gamma Rho, Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma.

The 100 Black Men of Stamford is hosting the event because they believe it is a great way to share an aspect of the cultural heritage of the Black community with all generations.  The net proceeds from the show will be used by the 100 Black Men to fund their variety of programming for youth in the Fairfield County community that includes mentoring, Lego robotics, youth golf, youth tennis and annual College Fair.  Sponsors of The Palace Theater’s Black Cultural FEST weekend are Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) and Pitney Bowes Inc.
