Rev Leon's Podcast Acknowledging Your Divinity

PodOmatic | Podcast - Rev Leon's Podcast:

So many times we have heard people say, 'I may not be religious but I am spiritual.' That meaning for one can be something different for another. The spiritual experience is totally personal. At the same time, our observations of the spiritually inspiring and uplifting happens all the time. It is a question of whether or not we recognize it.

A divine encounter could be noted as when we are clearly grounded in the awareness of a power greater than ourselves. We are aware in that moment that something greater than us and greater than what we can imagine is operating and in control. In that moment of divine encounter, we are profoundly moved and humbled when we become aware of that higher power operating in our presence.

Another confirmation in that moment of a divine encounter is when we become aware of how much more there is to what we are witnessing. In that moment, we know that we are seeing just the tip of the iceberg - so to speak. In that moment, we know that there is so much more to the mystery of God's power, presence, and divinity.

In the Bible Mary had such an encounter when she visited with Elizabeth and was acknowledged as the bearer of the Messiah. The two disciples had a divine encounter on the road to Emmaus when they came upon the risen Christ. Their encounter is even more important because they didn't recognize Jesus despite the fact that they had been walking with Jesus for some time. Our experience is probably more like that of the disciples. We are in the presence of divinity and are not aware of the encounter.

We often walk obliviously in the presence of many divine encounters. In that way we are like the two disciples unaware of the presence around us. At the same time, we also operate in a manner that keep our own internal divinity out of awareness. In many cases we hide it from ourselves. In some cases we can see many who walk that path all the time.

There are folks in our lives whom we can count on for demonstrating their divinity. It may be a challenge to come up with a long list, but we have living examples. We know these people not for the leaning toward war or aggression, but for their acts of kindness. We also know them as folks who are powerful expressions of their gifts and their calling. These are people who perform the miraculous and when asked why, they simply say something like, 'that's all I know to do.'

We are living opportunities to demonstrate the presence of our indwelling divinity. The rules of this world seem to dictate that we live life outside of the context of our divinity.  In real terms, we are here on this earth to demonstrate the presence of our innate qualities of divinity. That is what living this life is all about. That is how we are designed and that is what we are called to demonstrate. When we see those demonstrations in real time we are moved beyond words.

Life is not about proving that you are better than or less than another.  To be right in that vein is fool-hearty at best. There is so much time spent on proving we're better than this one or smarter than that one. That is not the point.  When you see a newborn struggle to simply breathe in order to have life, "better than" is not an issue. If we are not living in a way to have our divinity lift up and inspire others, then what is the point?

What does your divinity look like? It looks like the hope and spirit that infants are born with. It is that spirit that they effuse throughout their early development. It is the wonderful joy that children reflect until we take it away from them. It's that sense of discovery and wonder and excitement when they learn something new and actually 'get it.' It's the expression of appreciation for the gift of life and sharing that appreciation with others. It looks like those moments when their divinity inspires us all. That's what it looks like and we all have that within us.

We demonstrate it when we are an inspiration to others - not in the material or monetary sense, but in the context of that which is divine. You have that power. After all, you may be one of those persons who is not religious but you are spiritual. Your spiritual self is calling upon you to provide more divine expressions in your life. That's what that unsettled state is within you if you were wondering. Your divinity is seeking a voice.  Express your divinity, we could use your light.

God bless,
