NEIGHBORHOOD CULTURAL VITALITY GRANT
The Neighborhood Cultural Vitality Grant a short-term initiative of the Mayors Community Arts Grant Program focuses on support of arts and culture within New Haven’s underserved populations. Target communities: mental health programs and facilities; youth & senior programs and centers; shelters; hospitals; and mixed or lower income housing. Awards will range from $2,500-$5,000.
The goals of the grant are 1) to foster the creation of arts (visual art, music, dance, theater, etc.); 2) to strengthen social cohesion by creating opportunities for people of any age to connect and celebrate, both within and across cultures; 3) to provide rigorous, professional-caliber arts training opportunities for young people; 4) To contribute to the development of equitable sustainable partnerships and collaborations across the community.
A series of Information Sessions have been scheduled and are free and open to the public:
- January 11 @ 4:30pm, Mitchell Library, 37 Harrison Street
- January 19 @ 5:30pm, Fair Haven Library, 182 Grand Avenue
- January 20 @ 5:00pm, >Wilson Library, 303 Washington Avenue
- January 21 @ 6:00pm, Ives (Main) Library, 133 Elm Street
The application* deadline is 5:00pm Friday, January 29, 2016. Letters of Intent are due Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
*Note: Recipients of the Mayors Community Arts Grant Program awarded in July 2015 are ineligible to apply.
